Newcomb Update

Nearly four years after Tulane dissolved the school, this group of volunteers and advocates are still fighting to reinstate Newcomb College in accordance with the gift designated for that purpose by Mrs. Josephine Louise Newcomb more than 100 years ago.

And today marks an important milestone for The Future of Newcomb College.

Today, the Civil District Court in New Orleans will hear the oral arguments for the request for summary judgment filed for the suit.

Although I'll be traveling in another direction, this will definitely be on my mind today as I hope and continue to pray that Newcomb College will prevail and donor's rights are again upheld.

So I've seen you post about this before. What's the deal with this case? I'm very interested in finding out more.

I just want to make a small correction to your blog. Mrs. Josephine Louise Newcomb founded the H. Sophie Newcomb Memorial College as a memorial to her daughter who had died sixteen years earlier.

Laura-- thanks for that. I wrote this very quickly before running out for the day. Hate to provide misinformation!
