On being happy(ier)

I *think* I've mentioned that part of my motivation to join and do a 101 in 1001 project was to increase my own personal happiness. I have a tendency to throw everything I have into my professional life, frequently to the detriment of my personal fulfillment. You know how some people work hard and play harder? Yeah well, my motto seems to be work hard and work harder.

When I started this blog, I crossed paths with
Slate.com's Happiness Project and, deciding that it would be a good reference for my own journey through the 101 in 1001 project, linked it to my blog for quick and easy viewing.

Today the Happiness Project had an interesting article on making friends, which included this poll/questionnaire:

1. What’s the relationship between money and happiness?
2. What’s a simple activity that consistently makes you happier?
3. Is it selfish to work on being happier?
4. Is there a quotation, a book, or a scene from a movie that you’ve found particularly compelling?
5. If you’re feeling blue, how do you give yourself a happiness boost?
6. Have you noticed people with habits that regularly detract from their happiness? Or boost their happiness?

I'll answer this in a following post, but thought that it's an interesting way to explore our views on happiness.

Happiness...huh...

Who are these people who have time to create these projects? Are they getting paid?

I have the key to happiness!

Denial, alcohol, and friends to make fun of happy people with.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous of this person who is getting paid to:
A) get happier, and
B) write

My happiness involves bubbly, travel and shiny things. Who said I was complicated?
